Today, April 14, we join the global community in celebrating World Quantum Day – a vibrant initiative that highlights the impact of quantum science and technology on our world.
From computing to healthcare, communications to energy, quantum science is transforming the way we understand and interact with nature at its most fundamental level. It unlocks entirely new possibilities for technology and drives real-world innovation – just like the PHOENIX project does through photonics, neuromorphic computing, and next-generation integrated devices.
🌍 World Quantum Day is a decentralized, grassroots movement powered by scientists from more than 65 countries. It encourages everyone – researchers, engineers, students, artists, entrepreneurs, and educators – to get involved and share the wonder of quantum science in their own creative way.
📅 Why April 14? It was chosen in recognition of Planck’s constant (4.14 × 10⁻¹⁵ eV·s), a key value in quantum physics that defines the scale at which quantum effects become significant.
In PHOENIX, quantum principles guide the development of integrated photonic and ferroelectric platforms. By harnessing quantum and light-based technologies, our work supports the EU’s vision for a greener, more intelligent digital future.
